A report on industrial attachment at Hamid Fabrics Limited.
The term “textile” derived from the Latin textilis and the French texere, meaning “to weave,” and it originally referred only to woven fabrics. It has, however, come to include fabrics produced by other methods. Thus, threads, cords, ropes, braids, lace, embroidery, nets, and fabrics made by weaving, knitting, bonding, felting, or tufting are textiles. Textile technology education is based on industrial ground. Theoretical background is not sufficient so, industrial training is an essential part of study to make a technologist technically sound in this field. Industrial training provides us that opportunity to gather practical knowledge.Without practical knowledge it is not possible to apply the theoretical knowledge in the practical industrial field. Therefore, the industrial attachment is the process, which builds understanding, skills and attitude of the performer, which improves his knowledge in boosting productivity and services. This industrial training minimizes the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge and make us accustomed to industrial environment. Industrial attachment helps us to familiar with technical support of modern machinery. It also provides us sufficient practical knowledge about production management, efficiency, industrial management, purchasing, utility, maintenance of machinery, their operation techniques etc. The above mentioned factors cannot be achieved successfully by means of theoretical knowledge only. This is why it should be accomplished with practical knowledge in which it is based on. Industrial training minimizes the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge and makes us accustomed to industrial environment.
