Education was subtitled ‘the new dynamics of higher education and research for societal change and development’. Since 2009 those new dynamics have created turbulence in higher education across the world. Is the traditional business model of higher education breaking down now that academic content is freely available everywhere? How will institutions respond as students opt for online learning in ever-larger numbers? What is the impact on other universities as elite institutions create mass open online courses (MOOCs)?
