Study on Efficient Power Saving Mechanism in MANET

A MANET consists of autonomous, self-organizing and battery-operated nodes. It is characterized by links with less bandwidth, nodes with power constraints, dynamic topology. It is more prone to security threats than fixed networks. However, it has many advantages and different application areas from fixed networks or infrastructure mobile networks. The field of MANET is rapidly growing and changing, while there are still many challenges that need to be met. It is likely that such networks will be widespread used in next few years. Power is one of the main constraints in MANET. Normally portable power sources such as batteries are used in MANET. Hence battery technology development is very slow; many power aware routing protocols are considered to overcome the problem. In order to overcome overhead reduction and efficient power management, in this paper, there are various power-aware solutions for MANET is proposed. The electronic power at transmitter is often ignored in current design.
