Influence of Low Temperature Argon and Oxygen Plasma Treatment on Moisture Content Of Jute

Abstract—Plasma is an ionized gas and low temperature plasma (LTP) treatment is an environment friendly surface modification technique. In the present study jute fiber was treated with low temperature argon (Ar) and oxygen (O2) plasma at different discharge power levels (50, 75, and 100 W) and exposure times (5, 10, 15 and 20 min.) with a flow rate of 0.2 L/min. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) of both raw and modified jute was carried out. The TGA curves show that the moisture content of low temperature O2 plasma treated jute is higher than that of Ar plasma treated jute.
