ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY AND USE OF FAMILY PLANNING METHODS IN COASTAL AREA

This cross sectional descriptive type of study was carried out to assess adolescent pregnancy and use of family planning methods in coastal area particularly, Sharankhola Upazila of Bagerhat district. 220 adolescent pregnant /married woman who have at least one child within reproductive age or pregnant during data collection period were selected for this study. Duration of study period was January 2013 to December 2013 and the data were collected by face to face interview. A set of semi-structured questionnaire was used for this purpose. Observed results showed that the overall rate of adolescent pregnancy was very high and the proportion of planned pregnancy was vice versa. This is an alarming situation and requires urgent attention from every corner of society in order to prevent adolescent as well as unwanted pregnancy.
